Rear Garden Room Extension

Greenside is a Grade II listed building which lies within the Flaxton Conservation Area. The client wanted additional living space for their growing family. To achieve this small out-buildings to the rear were demolished and replaced with two splayed enclosing arms of sympathetic traditional construction, framing a central lightweight contemporary portion. This lightweight and transparent infill preserved the identity & character of the existing farmhouse by leaving the existing rear brickwork wall exposed internally with a full length frameless glass slot rooflight created between the two to emphasise the junction between the two elements. A range of low energy & efficient services have been incorporated such as underfloor heating, a highly efficient oil boiler, automated vents at high level which provide natural light and ventilation throughout in conjunction with LED lighting.
